The function of the anterior abdominal wall is to keep and protect the viscera lining the abdomen. It also gives structural support to the upper body.

The inguinal region contains the inguinal canal that carries the spermatic cord in men and the round ligaments in women.

Peritoneum serves as the lining of the abdominal cavity. It covers all the organs present inside the abdomen.

Stomach is the organ that helps in the digestion of food and liquids. It becomes active during the second stage of digestion.

Duodenum helps in the process of digesting food by helping in the breakdown of food particles in the small intestine.

Pancreas secrete pancreatic juices that have digestive enzymes. These enzymes are responsible for the breakdown of complex food structures.

Liver helps in the metabolism and also stores glucose for the body. The well functioning of the organ is very important for human survival.

Gallbladder works by helping in complete digestion of the food. It also produces bile.

Small intestine is placed between the gastrointestinal tract and the stomach. This is the part of the body where the majority process of digestion happens.

Large intestine works by assimilating all the waste products including water from the digested food and then excreting them from the body. 

Posterior Abdominal Wall is situated behind the peritoneum.

Kidneys perform the function of filtration of blood and water in the body. It is very important that kidneys be functioning properly in order to avoid the on set of certain fatal diseases.

Lymphatic system carries the fluid lymph. It first helps in the osmosis of fatty acids and then transfers them to the circulatory system.
