The American black bear is among the bigger bears and is really huge in size. Seeing a bear in the wild can be a rewarding experience. However, bears are animals that are not known to have good temperaments. Bears are known to attack humans and that is why one should always be careful while interacting with a bear in the wild.

Despite its huge size, a bear can run really fast and swift. They can easily overtake humans. Black bears have long legs so they take faster and longer leaps while running. A bear can easily run at a speed of 2 miles per hour. When they are running on all their four legs, they can run at 20 miles per hour. When someone looks at a black bear, they may think that the animal is so huge and even if it runs, they can get away from it. It is a false assumption, as the bear can easily get to the humans fast if it wants.

While observing wildlife it is best not to get off from the vehicles and one should maintain a safe distance from the animal. Bears are not known to attack human beings without reason. The recent bear attacks have been only on vehicles when they have stored food in them. Bears never venture out near human settlements and most of the times it is the humans, who are encroaching on the bear’s space. The black bear are found in wooded areas and deep in the jungles.
