Grizzly bear is known as the silver tip grizzly bear and the scientific name for it is Ursus arctos horriblis. The grizzly bear is a native of Alaska, and is found in Wyoming, Idaho, Washington and Montana. They love the northern regions of North America where there is a lot of open land.
The grizzly bears cannot be spotted in winters because at that time they spend most of their time hibernating in caves and dens. They do not even come out and look for food.
The grizzly bears of North America are huge and they have a big forehead. They have a hump at the shoulders through which they can be identified and they have a fur that is silver tipped. When they stand on two legs, they portray a somewhat concave figure. When the grizzly bear is on both its hind legs, then it can measure up to 7 feet in height, and it can measure nearly 4 feet in height when it is on all fours. Some of the bears weigh as much as 400 pounds.
The bears are called omnivores animals and they eat so many different types of food. However, grizzly bears will not eat humans even if they get a chance. Nonetheless, when a human being gets too close to a bear or to its cubs, then the bear can attempt to kill the human. Female grizzly bears are the most aggressive when they have given birth to cubs.
They do not even mind killing other bears if they come close to their territories. The bears are solitary animals whether it is a male or female. Usually the female of the species will live with its cubs in its own territory.
