Poodles are canines which are very popular when it comes to owning a dog since they are obedient, easy to groom or train, enjoy pleasing the owners and are good show dogs. Since they are one of the most popular breeds for owning, it is easy to find a standard poodle for adoption as compared to other breeds. Such poodles will be less costly than a pure-breed from a pet-shop or dog breeder.
The fees to be paid for adopting a poodle from a shelter will depend on factors like age and condition of the canine and the paying ability of the prospective owner. This fee will be used by the rescue home for taking care of many more abandoned poodles and the expenses to run the organization. The fees will also cater for medical expenditure of the poodles at the shelter and for covering costs for neutering fertile poodles and for their medication and care during the phase post surgery on behalf of the foster owners before adoption.
The prospective owner will have to be at least 21 years of age and the adoption procedure will require the individual to fill an application form furnishing details pertaining to permission from the owner for keeping a pet if the owner is a tenant, commitment to keep the adopted poodle well groomed, details of their lifestyle, and experience of having owned a dog for a pet previously.
The rescue centers will maintain tag and assist in coordination amongst the owner, vet, groomer and the shelter for ensuring that the canine is well groomed, vaccinated in time and having regular health check-ups.
