There are various kinds of goldfish, each having its own unique demand for feed and water temperature. These different types of goldfishes are divided into different categories such as single tailed, double tailed, double tailed with an oval shaped body, double tailed goldfish having oval shape without a dorsal fin. Let us find out about each of this variety of goldfish.
Single Tailed Goldfish - There are of two varieties, one is the Shubunkins, while the other variety is known as the Comet. Again Shubunkins are of two types, London and Bristol Shubunkins goldfish. These are usually found in violet, red, orange and yellow colors. Comet goldfish is rather hardy and this is what makes them perfect for a pond in the garden. These types of fishes can easily tolerate cold water. The comet fishes are distinctly visible because of their long slim body and long tail. These fishes can grow up to 12 to 14 inches in length.
Double Tailed Gold Fish - Their appearance is similar to single tailed goldfish except that they have split tail fins. Watkins goldfish falls in this category. These types of fishes are hardy in nature and come in different colors. Another variety of double tailed goldfish is the Jikins goldfish. These are available in various colors such as white body color with red or orange lips, gill plates and fins.
Double Tailed Goldfish with an Oval Shape - Oranda goldfish and Ryukin goldfish belong to this variety of goldfish. Oranda goldfish has a unique feature with a helmet on its head. Ryukin goldfish are recognized by a hump in their back.
