How Do You Get Rid Of A Mosquito Bite ?

Mosquitoes use their sharp proboscis to get direct access to our blood stream. These creatures are found the world over and have adapted marvelously to different climatic conditions. Temperature and humidity play a crucial role in helping them reproduce and grow. The female will lay numerous eggs on water bodies. These in turn will mature into larva, pupa and become adults when conditions are optimum. Male mosquitoes predominantly feed on plants’ nectar. The female mosquitoes are responsible for attacking humans and animals. Blood provides them with sufficient protein and iron required for egg formation and laying.

Generally, mosquito bites do not cause allergic symptoms or reactions. Unless a mosquito is a carrier of a deadly pathogen or microorganism, there is no need to be overly worried. However taking precautionary methods is always advisable. Mosquitoes can transmit dengue fever, malaria, yellow fever and encephalitis among other deadly diseases so maintaining clean and hygienic conditions is necessary. It is also useful to have a mosquito repellant around.

If you are naturally allergic to insect bites, it is advisable to get a medical check up done immediately. Use hydrocortisone creams or calamine lotion to reduce the pain, itching and inflammation. You can also use aloe vera gel. If you have an aloe vera plant at home, then break a leaf into two. Apply the gel that exudes out from the surface directly on the affected area. This will significantly reduce itching and swelling. You can also rub the inner side of banana peel. Antihistamine creams will also help in reducing pain and inflammation.
