Worlds Largest Rabbit

The world's largest rabbit is the German gray giant. This breed of rabbit weighs well over 23 pounds and is huge. However, as per the official records, the largest rabbit in the world is called Humphrey. This rabbit is a French lop eared rabbit.

Humphrey weighs a magnificent 28.22 pounds, or 12.7 kilograms, and is 42 inches long. The previous record holder of being the largest rabbit in the world was named Dancing Star. This rabbit belonged to the British giant breed. He was 25 pounds in weight.

Usually when people see Humphrey, they get a surprise because the French lop eared rabbits are not known to get to large and big. On an average, a French lop eared rabbit weighs around 10 pounds or 4.4 kilograms. However, Humphrey is an anomaly. Even his owner does not know how his pet rabbit became so large and big.

The strangest part is that Humphrey is quite young, around 2 years old, and he is still growing. This means that the world's largest rabbit could still get larger. Humphrey is not on any special diet. He is fed hay, carrots, digestive biscuits and asparagus. So, it is strange that this breed should grow to this size. Everyday, Humphrey eat around three carrots, half a broccoli, 2 tips of asparagus, whole meal bread and biscuits.

According to some reports, there is another rabbit that is in contention for the world's largest rabbit title holder. This rabbit is a continental giant, and is named Amy. She is from England and weighs 35 pounds, or 15.9 kilograms, and is nearly 4 feet in length. However, this has not been recorded officially, so Humphrey is still the official world's largest rabbit.
