Tom Welling, an American actor, actually began his career working in a construction company. But destiny had certainly something else written for him as he got selected by a photographer and was told to try modeling. He took his advice clearly and that really proved a boon for him. He walked the ramp for some leading designers and enjoyed being part of some great commercials too.

He thought of switching over to acting after realizing his ability to express differently. He made his TV debut with Judging Army which initially was planned for just 3 weeks but switched over to some more due to his gaining popularity. He also did a small part in Special Unit 2 and another episode in Undeclared. He got the role of Clark Kent after enormous auditions undertaken in the entire country.

He realized that he got the role when he was at the gas station. He was chosen by People’s magazine as one of Breakthrough Stars of the year 2001. He even received the Teen Choice Award in 2002. He was also approached to play the lead in Superman in 2004. Again in 2009, he once more received the Teen Choice Award. He happened to direct the 6th episode Hydro and 150th episode Apocalypse, Absolute Justice and Injustice. He played the character of Charlie Baker in Cheaper by Dozen in 2003. Also in the year 2005, he acted in The Fog and also in Cheaper by the Dozen 2.

He and Ashton Kutcher were great friends during the good old modeling days. He has been lucky to direct few episodes of Smallville. Although, Smallville was definitely a turning point in his career, he did get back to modeling a couple of times.
