Despite having strong links in the industry through her parents, the leading Hollywood actress, Kate Hudson did not choose the easy path to success. Her mother, Goldie Hawn, was outstanding actress with an Academy Award to her credit, while her biological father, Bill Hudson was a well known comedian and musician.
However, Kate resolved to make a place for herself through her own talent and not any parental clout. Nevertheless, the inherent flair for acting especially comedy, evident in her performances is undoubtedly embedded in her genes.
Hudson commenced her career with television in 1996. One of the most famous series enacted by her was 'Party of Five'. Thereafter, she moved on to movies with her first appearance in 'Ricochet River' followed by '200 Cigarettes' and 'Desert Blue'. Although these movies were not major hits, Hudson’s screen presence and talent touched the hearts of many.
The year 2000 marked a turning phase in Hudson’s career with the phenomenal success of 'Almost Famous'. Initially Hudson had a comparatively smaller role in the film but luck favored her and she was finally cast as one of the three lead characters in the movie. Her performance in the movie was par excellence for which the actress earned a nomination at the Oscars at the age of just 20.
The success of this film elevated Hudson to a different league of actors and now she was in a position to choose her films. Soon after this movie, she was seen in the Victorian classic 'The Four Feathers'. The actress was immensely appreciated for her romantic comedies such as 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days', 'Alex and Emma' and 'You, Me, and Dupree'. The more natural acting style of the actress could be seen in the film 'Le Divorce', which was a take from Diane Johnson's famous novel.
The actress’ strong acting and persona was also visible in movies like 'Raising Helen' and 'Two for the Money'. Widening her horizons, Hudson also tried her hands at thrillers with 'The Skeleton Key'. The actress was again seen in comic roles in 'Fool’s Gold' and 'My Best Friend's Girl'. Some of the other very recent films of the actress include 'Bride Wars' and 'Nine'.
