Martin Luther King Jr. was married to Coretta Scott in 1953 on June 18. His father Rev. Martin Luther King performed the wedding ceremony. King and Scott together had four children and today, all of them are civil right activists in their own ways. All the four children seemed to have followed in their father’s and grandfather’s footsteps.
Yolanda Denise was born on November 17, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama. She is a human rights activist and also an actress by profession. She has a master’s degree from the New York University and a doctorate from Marywood University. She also actively campaigned for the Stroke Awareness Association and other than that, she has participated in several missionaries like Habitat for Humanity, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, and Southern Christian Leadership Conference. She had also written a book called Open My Eyes and Open My Soul. She also fought for the gay rights.
Martin Luther King III was born on October 23, 1957 in Montgomery, Alabama. King went to the Galloway School and Morehouse College and followed the family’s legendary commitment of going to the same school and college. King was unanimously elected as the president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference founded by his forefathers. However, he was later suspended from his organization because he had several disagreements and non performance issues with the board members. He was found complacent by the board members so they had to take the step.
Dexter Scott King was born on January 30, 1961. He also attended the Morehouse College just like his brother and forefathers. Later, he became the president of the King Center for Non Violent Social Change.
Bernice Albertine was born on March 28, 1963 in Atlanta, Georgia. Being the youngest of them all, she is known to be the most powerful conversationalist.
