How Did Andre The Giant Die ?  

Andre the Giant suffered from a disorder known as gigantism. He was an oversized person, who stood tall at 7 feet and 5 inches. There was irregular hormone production in his body that caused the gigantism.

By the time he was 12 years old, Andre had already grown 6 feet tall.Andre was always considered abnormal even by his parents. His body has been failing for several years and doctors always believed that he would not live very long. Andre knew this, and he made every effort to live his life happily and completely. Even when he was wrestling, he knew that he could live only up to 40. He already started developing heart problems at a young age. He went to attend his father’s funeral in France and died in a hotel on January 23, 1993. His chauffeur found him dead in the room in the morning.

Andre died in his sleep due to heart failure. It was concluded as a congestive heart failure by the doctors in Paris. Congestive heart failure is caused as a result of a pituitary tumor secreting excessive hormones. Also, André chose not to be treated his entire life. He was 46 years old when he died.

Andre had wished that his ashes be strewn on his ranch in Ellerbe, North Carolina after being cremated there. His wishes were carried out by spreading his ashes on his ranch. He is survived by a daughter. However, his daughter does not suffer from gigantism, and is of normal height.
