How To Make Tea Cakes ?
Those who enjoy drinking tea can have the beverage at any time of the day. Some form of a snack along with a cup of tea adds further appeal to the beverage. Tea cakes could be a good option of snack to serve along with tea to your guests. The recipe is simple and will certainly leave your relatives and friends asking for more.
The ingredients required for preparing tea cakes are all-purpose flour, butter, white sugar, eggs, baking soda, salt, vanilla extract and ground nutmeg. Put one cup of butter kept at room temperature in a mixing bowl and add 1 ¾ cup of white sugar to it. Mix these two together until you attain a grainy composition. Add two eggs, one at a time while mixing the contents together. After this, add one teaspoon of vanilla extract to eliminate the odor of the eggs.
In another mixing bowl, now take three cups of all-purpose flour, half teaspoon of baking soda and salt individually and ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg. Blend these ingredients well and thereafter transfer this mixture into the other bowl. Blend the two mixtures together to attain a creamy consistency. This dough must be further kneaded on a flat surface and then stored in the refrigerator for slight hardening. Afterwards, roll out the dough and cut out the desired shape of the cookies with the help of cookie cutter. Place them on a cookie sheet with space for expansion and bake in an oven preheated at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for eight to ten minutes. After baking, allow the teacakes to cool and serve with tea.
Do not worry about the teacakes getting stale; the recipe may taste even better after a day or two.
