How To Bake French Fries ?  

French fries are everyone’s favorite snack, adults or kids and it happens to be the most favorite side dish. They are great for hamburgers and sandwiches. French fries are quick and easy to make and happen to be the most popular choice in fast food centers and lunches or dinner. Learning how to make French fries can be fun especially when you can replicate the restaurant style. You can always cook in your own kitchen instead of paying for them outside. It is not hard and can be done in a few minutes.

 

Snacking on crispy French fries is a craving for most people. However, as a word of caution, they are not the healthiest option for snacking. You can try and break the habit of eating fast food French fries by substituting it with gourmet style French fries. If you have an oven, you can put it to good use by baking French fries. Baked fries are a much healthier option and also more flavorful.

To bake French fries, you need red potatoes, and rosemary for the flavor. Pre-heat the oven to 425 degree Fahrenheit. Take the potatoes, peel and wash them thoroughly. Cut the potato into about quarter inch wide slices. Fries cook fast when they are cut smaller. Take a baking pan and layer it with canola oil. You can also use an oil spray can, if you want to use lesser oil.

Spread the potatoes in the baking tray and make sure they are in a single layer. Pieces should not be on top of each other. Sprinkle some salt along with other herbs like pepper, thyme, rosemary and basil. Place the pan with the fires in the oven and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes. You can tell that they are cooked once they become a golden brown in color. Once the potatoes have been in the oven for 15 minutes, turn them around in the oven. Be sure to wear a mitt to protect your hand.

Allow them to cool for about 2 minutes and serve the fries with tomato sauce or as a side dish of salad.
