Congestive Heart Failure Caused By Smoking And Alcoholism
Alcoholism and smoking are injurious to health. These are the root cause to some of the deadliest diseases, which affect both the physical and mental state. Alcoholism and smoking are frequently related to lung caner, liver failure and breathing problems. They can also have adverse effect on the human heart. Alcoholism and smoking can lead to congestive heart failure.
Congestive heart failure occurs when the heart stops pumping blood to every part of our body. This is not a complete failure of the human heart. Rather it improper functioning of the heart as an organ. In a congestive heart failure, the heart does not supply blood to the whole body. The blood supply is restricted to certain important organs only. Alcoholism and smoking is one the major reasons for this failure.
Alcohol when consumed in excessive amount damages the lungs and causes lung congestion which manifests similar symptoms of congestive heart failure. Smoking has in many cases has caused sudden deaths. Excessive consumption of alcohol also results in high blood pressure, increasing the risk of heart attacks. Alcoholic cardiomyopathy is a cardiovascular disease caused by the toxic effects of alcohol on human heart wherein the heart becomes enlarged and weakened.
In spite of being aware of the adverse side-effects of smoking and alcoholism, people still continue indulging in these harmful habits. They only quit when in treatment or rehabilitation. Quitting alcoholism and smoking requires moral and mental support along with medication and supervision. One must stay away from injurious habits like smoking and drinking to keep a healthy heart and lungs.
