Books About Dream Interpretation

Over the years many people have tried to interpret dreams. Whether they were able to achieve any success is not known but the modern day scientific approach can yield startling results. There are many books explaining how to interpret dreams. One of them is the Christian book of dream interpretation. This book says that dreams are symbolic which basically means that each part of the dream has its own significance and collectively the dream gives an important message.

If Bible appears in the dream and the dreamer accepts its teachings, it means that the person will receive eternal happiness. The appearance of biscuits indicates poverty and disruption of family peace over petty issues.

Sigmund Freud was a pioneer who opened the door for dreams to become the subject of scientific research. His book called The Interpretation of Dreams was published in 1899. He said that when we get tired from responding to stimuli from the environment, we fall asleep. During this time the sleeper withdraws from reality and disconnects with surrounding stimuli as far as possible. However absolute withdrawal is not possible. These stimuli wake us up in the morning as our interaction with them at this point increases. These stimuli also disturb us during our sleep and brain responds to them in the form of dreams.

According to Freud most dream symbols are more or less sexual. All dream symbols which have three parts symbolize a man’s sexual organ. Objects which are used for penetration of the body like knives, daggers and others also come under this category. Female sex organs are represented by shallow objects like shaft, vessels, bottles and others.

These are some of the opinions expressed by some authors in their books.
