Ouija is a board which is said to be a way of communicating with dead people and good spirits. The word is derived from the German and French words which means ‘yes’. In Christianity, it is regarded dangerous to make such attempts to communicate with the other world and treated as a tool of the evil. Some other radical thinkers consider it as a legitimate tool similar to others which are used to gain wisdom, insight and truth.
There are alphabets and numbers from 0 to 9 on the board along with the words ‘yes’ and ‘no’. A pointer with 3 felt-tipped supports is available on which one or more users place their finger tips. When any question is asked, the pointer is believed to move by the force of the spirits and show the answer. But the non-believers consider that the so called answers are a response of the unconscious mind of the users. Some claims of the pointer flying off the board or spinning uncontrollably and the users being harassed by the spirits are also made but not proven.
The Bible clearly condemns the use of such devices in an effort to communicate with the dead. In reality this attempt is considered to be futile. The biblical notes clearly state that the dead would not know about earthly things. Even the saints are believed to be unfamiliar with the plight of the people. Sometimes, those who do not believe in the Bible or the presence of supernatural powers are the very people who believe anything else, even the Ouija as truth.
