Who Uses A Ouija Board ?

Ouija board is a game that 2 to 6 players can play at a given time. The device is considered as a means to communicate with the spirits and get answers to many queries. If existence of spirits and ghosts is considered true, this game can be dangerous if it is not played with caution. There are many claims of people being harassed by the spirits and getting serious psychic problems too.

Here, the players place a finger on the planchette which is a small plank which is believed to be moved by the spirits along alphabets, numbers, yes or no in response to any question. The communication with the spirits was a favorite activity for many from 1890 to 1950. In order to popularize the game, manufacturers suggested Ouija as the best tool to enter the world of spirits and communicating with the dead.

By the late 19th century, people assembled to witness events where the spirits were believed to communicate by tapping of the legs of the tables, a person who was believed to be in a state of trance and in contact with spirits made notes in response to questions; gadgets were made using gear and pulley assembly and so on.

But the most widely used device was the Ouija board. Some believe that the movement of the planchette is by the subconscious minds of the players.

This board game is still in demand by few collectors interested in antique pieces, people keen on meditation, and craftsmen who would make improvised versions as demanded in glass, leather or wood.
