Apple is one of the most beneficial fruits. There is a saying that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, and there is a lot of truth in that saying, especially if you taking into consideration the content of the nutrients present in an apple.
Apple is said to be rich in vitamins and fibers. It also contains antioxidants, which prevent the cells in the brain from damage, and also prevent the risk of breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer and liver cancer. Apples have sweetness, and this is because of the sugar content in the apples. A medium sized apple may have a sugar content of 13 grams to 20 grams of sugar in it. However, this sugar is not harmful as this is natural sugar, and not a manmade one. On the contrary, the sugar present in apple or for that matter any fruit can give instant energy to people. In fact, it is believed that apples have something called as pectin which helps in controlling diabetes and asthma.
There are no known ill effects of apples. Apples have no cholesterol and they also contain something called phenolics, which can prevent Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Apples are also said to be very good for the gums and teeth.
So, irrespective of the amount of sugar the apple has, it is a good idea to eat at least one apple a day. It is better if the apple is eaten with the skin. It will definitely not be harmful. However, you need to wash it thoroughly to remove all traces of chemicals and pesticides from the surface of the skin. So, stop worrying about the grams of sugar in the apple, and start counting its health benefits.
