Although electric hedge trimmer provides lot of comfort, and saves time and energy when it comes to trimming hedges, but once the blade losses its sharpness, the actual problem crops up. Sharpening an electric hedge trimmer requires a lot of effort. A less sharpened hedge trimmer makes very bad cuts on the stems giving an overall bad appearance to the hedges.
In an electric hedge trimmer, the blades tend to become blunt each time you use them. The solution is not to buy another one or get the blades sharpened by a professional expert each time. With just little effort from your side, you can actually sharpen the trimmer all by yourself.
First of all, search for a flat surface where you can start working. Remember to unplug the trimmer before beginning the sharpening process. Put the trimmer on top of a table, which would be the best surface. You should be in a possession a pair of pliers to unfasten the crews that hold the blades in place. With the help of the pliers unscrew the bolts in an anti-clockwise direction. Now you can easily take out the blades. Put the blades in a bench and clamp them in a way so that they do not slip down. Then, take a metal filer having the same length as of the blade and slide it as many times as possible towards the inner side of the blade. This will help the blade to sharpen. Apply force at an angle of thirty-two degrees. Do not attempt this on the flatter edges of the blades.
The same procedure should be applied to sharpen the second blade. Before fixing the blades back in place, first test the blade for its sharpness on a piece of paper. If you are satisfied, screw the bolts properly to fasten the blades.
