We all know the importance of herbs and spices and they have great benefits for our health. Herbs add taste and also act as a garnish to the dish we serve. There are several types of herbs like garlic, onions, shallots, parsley, cilantro, mint and so on. Every country and culture has their own herbs.
One rule of thumb is that no matter what the herb is, they were locally grown and people living in those areas found medicinal properties in them and therefore, started using them in cooking and also for various medicinal purposes. Italian herbs, Chinese herbs, Korean herbs and also Indian herbs are all very famous. Also many of these ancient cultures have common herbs that are known by different names like garlic for example.
You can grow herbs at home and some of them you can grow by the window sill are parsley, cilantro, mint, basil, and mostly leafy herbs. You will need to buy a trench and put in fertile soil and prepare the bed. Then sow the seeds of the herb you wish to grow at least one inch deep. Make sure the trench is placed in sunlight and herbs need a lot of sunlight to grow well. You can also start purchasing your favorite herb plant instead of sowing the seeds. You will need some potting mix for the trench in case you are planting the seeds and also putting in the plants. Water them regularly, and make sure you do not give the plants excess water when they are small.
