            Yoga has been practiced for several thousand of years. It is originated in India as an art of meditation, relaxation, and exercise. Yoga teaches one to control the body, mind and the spirit.

             Among its many benefits, new study discovers that yoga can aid cancer survivors to recover better.  Survivors who may have difficulty sleeping sleep better after a few yoga sessions per week. In a clinical study, a group of cancer survivors who practice yoga at least 75-minute per week reduce their sleep medication by 20 percent.

               Some survivors also report improvement in fatigue. Basic yoga exercise generally includes breathing exercises, postures, and mindfulness. These components may be the key to improve sleep, fatigue and overall quality of life. Breathing exercise can help the body absorb more oxygen.At the same time, meditation in Yoga can help reduce the stress of sickness from the patient. 

              Basic yoga is relatively easy to do. It does not require too much physical strength like other sports. Anyone can start learning basic yoga at the privacy of their own home.  If you can’t find a class in your area, there is abundance of information on the internet. Youtube is a great place to start.
