Can Implantation Occur 5 Days After Ovulation ?

Implantation symbolizes the attaching of the fertilized egg to the wall of the uterus. In a typical cycle, ovulation that is release of the egg from the ovary takes place on day fourteen, taking day 1 as the first day of the periods. Fertilization between the egg and sperm occurs within the fallopian tube. Thereafter the fertilized egg stays at this site for approximately 3 days. After this 3 days period, the fertilized egg descends into the uterus and invades the endometrium in order to implant itself successfully.

This process of implantation is believed to occur anywhere between six and ten days after the act of ovulation, which is the same as the time period between day 20 and 24 of the menstruation cycle. However, as each individual’s body is unique, the process could take place before or even after the typical time span allotted for implantation. Thus, for some women implantation could actually happen even five days after ovulation.

Although it is rather difficult to identify the signs of implantation outwardly, women who are really keen on conception could look out for certain indications illustrating success. Many pregnant women are believed to have experienced cramping in the uterine area during implantation. Implantation spotting or slight bleeding approximately 7 to 10 days after ovulation is also fairly common amongst pregnant women. Keeping a record of one’s basal body temperature could also give some indication of the implantation process. Any minor fluctuations in the same are known to point towards a successful attachment. Even though these signs may indicate pregnancy, the actual confirmation of pregnancy comes only through a positive urine or blood test.
