Marriages as everyone believes are made in heaven but sometimes they do go wrong somewhere which make people look out for some measures to end their marriages. Though divorce seems the best option for ending a marriage but there are also some other ways that can prove much more beneficial than divorce. One such option is a marriage annulment that is basically known as the procedure in which the marriage is declared legally void.

A marriage annulment eliminates all the records of marriage and thus, brings out conditions as though the marriage never occurred. But it is not that easy as it sounds, there are certain marriage annulment rules that people need to be aware of in case they wish to opt any such measure.

  • First and the foremost rule is that the person going for a marriage annulment must have a legal reason asking for the same. These reasons may include being forced towards a marriage or being married in a mentally unstable state like intoxicated condition, marrying a married person and fraud.
  • The grounds on which a person files a marriage annulment are valid only for short span of time after the wedding ceremony.
  • If a person is able to prove that he or she was not aware of the circumstances before that made their marriage qualified then the court is liable to consider such cases as exceptions. For instance if one gets to know that he or she is married to a person who was already married after a certain time period of their marriage ceremony then they have 3 months to seen a marriage annulment.
