Every kind of cure, whether conventional or alternative, has its pros and cons. For some the advantages may be many and the disadvantages very few; nevertheless they still have them.
There are several kinds of alternative therapy in the field of medicine today like, acupuncture, acupressure, aromatherapy, reflexology, ayurveda, homeopathy, naturopathy and yoga.
However, all of these have their pros and cons and in spite of everything they seem to be very popular. Every person suffers from some condition or the other like stress, depression, chronic pain, and more severe ones like diabetes, cancer and AIDS. There is not one person in the world who can say he is perfectly healthy.
So what really are the cons of alternative medicine? First of all, the problem with alternative medicine is that there are not too many takers. People find it difficult to identify with something that does not show immediate results. Another problem is with the statistical reports. Usually the popularity of alternative cure comes from word of mouth and other people’s experiences. The timeline between cause and cure is very difficult to establish and most people also depend on conventional medicine in conjunction. So, it becomes difficult to identify which treatment actually helped in the healing. The major problem with alternative cures is that they depend a lot on conventional medicine and remedies too. They, on their own, cannot cure major diseases and severe condition.
These are some of the shortcomings found in alternative therapies which are difficult to overcome. The biggest advantage among these all is these kinds of cures do not have any side effects.
