How To Take Care Of The Integumentary System ?  

Usually one is seen to spend a lot of money to take care of one’s skin, which is the common name for the integumentary system. The hair and nails are also part of the integumentary system. Everyone wants to have healthy glowing beautiful skin. It is not very difficult to achieve this result if one follows certain guidelines.

First and foremost, it is very important to avoid too much exposure to the sun, though a little exposure is vital for the production of Vitamin D. Too much exposure to the sun’s rays ages the skin, and causes wrinkles and sagging of skin. To prevent this, one should apply sunscreen lotion, wear long sleeves shirts, and wear hats and sun glasses to protect themselves from the harmful rays of the sun.  This also reduces the risk of skin cancers.

Sufficient water intake and keeping the skin and body well hydrated is also very important. Exercise, sufficient sleep and good nutrition are vital for the health of the skin. By including a lot of protein rich foods in your diet, you can help the skin look young and beautiful. Cleanse the skin is important but you should avoid the use of harsh soaps and excessive scrubbing. These products can make the skin dry and rough. The skin can be hydrated by using a mild moisturizer.

If the skin is prone to acne and pimples, then cleaning it twice a day with warm water is a good plan. One should avoid touching the face with fingers as they tend to have a lot of germs which are not beneficial for the facial skin. One should refrain from breaking pimples as it may lead to scarring. It is important to wear cotton clothes, especially cotton undergarments helps skin to breathe. Tight fitted clothes make it difficult for the skin to breathe. Avoid using lip balm that belongs to someone else as it may be contaminated with herpes virus which will result in cold sores on the lips.
