A number of people in the world are not aware of the fact that they would grow allergic to hair colors at any point in their lifetime. In fact, it might happen with the hair care product one had been using for all of his life!
Mild reactions of allergy may include minor burning or itchiness on the scalp, watery eyes or minor swelling. Included in fatal reactions would be a swollen throat that results in difficulty in breathing, and can cause death, although it is rare. Minor or major, a medical professional should be consulted immediately as the allergic reactions are known to get worse as time passes by. It is best to completely give up the product that causes allergy to your hair. Though most of the allergies from hair dyes come from semi-permanent or permanent hair colors, even products that are bleach-based or those with lightening agents can develop sensitivities in some people. As per experts, the allergies may be due to the reactions of paraphenylenediamine called as “PPD”. Some of the experts also blame the bleaching agents, ammonia, or peroxide.
Switching to natural dyeing products can reduce the effects of paraphenylenediamine and relatively safe with minimal usage of chemicals. But, they might not be as effective as the conventional hair colors; even though they do color the hair, they cannot lighten the color of hair and cannot uplift the color of hair. The best way to get highlights, lowlights or combinations of different colors for your hair is to use hair extensions. They can be applied to the hair on a strand to strand basis. It instantly enhances the color of the hair. Other options include using wigs, clip-on ponytails or using pre-colored braids to go naturally with the color of your hair.
