If you are having an aortic valve replacement surgery, you will want to know what is the recovery time. Right after the surgery, you will be kept in the intensive care unit for around 24 hours to 48 hours during which your condition will be monitored very carefully.
If there are no complications, you will leave the intensive care unit and be placed in a normal hospital room where you can recover. In addition, as you regain your strength, the doctor will allow you to start walking and doing other physical activities.Usually the total recovery time after aortic valve replacement surgery can be a few months. It is only after this time period will you be able to return to your normal lifestyle. However, the doctors will advice you on exercise but you will be asked to refrain from any exercise or activity that puts too much strain on your heart.
