Hemorrhagic Stroke Guideline

A hemorrhagic stroke occurs because a blood vessel bursts in the brain. The human brain is a complicated organ and has several complex functions in the body. The brain is incapable of storing blood or water and that is why it needs a constant supply of them for it to function normally.

Any fluid which remains in the brain can cause damage to it by creating pressure and pressing it against the walls of the skull. Also, blood or any fluid can irritate the delicate tissues that surround the brain.

The blood that stays in the brain when the blood vessel bursts forms a mass leading to a condition called hematoma. It is dangerous to have hematoma and people can die from it. There are several sub types of hemorrhagic stroke and they are classified based on the location where they occur.

The types of hemorrhagic strokes are intracerebral hemorrhage that occurs deep within the brain and subarachnoid hemorrhage that occurs between the brain and the membranes covering it. In both the cases it is mainly caused due to high blood pressure that forces the artery walls to expand and burst.

There are many causes of stroke and some of the most common are as follows:

Aneurysms: It is a weak or a feeble spot in the artery which is extremely vulnerable and can leak easily.

Aretriovenous Malformation or AVM: Sometimes an abnormal connection between the arteries and veins is found in some people and this could lead to hemorrhagic stroke.

Also, certain types of cancer cause bleeding in the brain leading to a hemorrhagic stroke.
