The term hemorrhage means bleeding because of pressure. A hemorrhagic stroke occurs when the blood vessels burst inside the brain. When bleeding occurs in the brain, it could be fatal for the person. Several damages like paralytic stroke or permanent disability can occur as a result.

Hemorrhagic stroke always occurs suddenly and without a warning. The symptoms of the stroke are common and can be quite misleading actually.

A hemorrhagic stroke is less common among the known strokes and the most common one is the ischemic stroke. The damage due to the stroke is caused due to the affected area of the brain. Patients who suffer from a stroke are watched very carefully for at least 72 hours in intensive care after the stroke. The immediate care involves determining the cause of the stroke, getting the blood pressure back to normal and scans of the brain to check for abnormalities. Also, the possibility of any fluids in the brain is ruled out as a precautionary measure.

The pressure within the brain is measured and if it shows a higher side then the spinal fluid is removed from the brain to reduce the pressure. A stroke can cause brain damage by leaking blood into the cavities between the brain and tissue. The blood, then, forms a lump and starts pressing the brain against the walls of the skull. The pressure created by the blood clot can cause immense damage to the brain. Also, the brain functions of the affected area can cease immediately.
