Cause And Effects Of Mini Strokes

The symptoms of a mini stroke are very similar to a full fledged stroke. The causes of a mini stroke are also same as the causes of a regular stroke. For a person who is suffering from stroke-like symptoms, it is very important to get immediate medical attention.

Causes of a Mini Stroke:

Mini stroke is often referred to as a transient ischemic attack, or TIA. It occurs when the oxygen supply to a specific part of the brain has been cut off. However, it usually lasts for less than 10 minutes, and the symptoms are also temporary, unlike a stroke in which the effects are permanent.

Effects of a Mini Stroke:

The risk factors vary for mini strokes, but they are basically the same as those for full strokes and all the heart disease. Mini strokes are due to blockages in the blood vessels, and one must try not to get into this situation by simply reducing the risk of the disease.

The symptoms of a transient ischemic attack can mostly include the following:

1. Severe vision problems and double vision
2. Other accompanied symptoms like dizziness, and weakness.
3. Problems with speech like slurring.
4. Not being able to walk, which is also known as ataxia.
5. A sudden amnesia leading to confusion and loss of consciousness may be caused.

Most of the symptoms of mini stroke basically last for a short time and it is obvious that you get immediate medical attention in case you experience the symptoms or signs in advance.
