The scarlet fever is caused by streptococcal bacteria and it is a contagious disease. The disease can spread from person to person through the atmosphere.

The infected person through his coughing and sneezing can pass on the bacteria. When a healthy person encounters these droplets, the bacteria can enter his nasal passage during the course of normal breathing.

Now the healthy person gets infected and in turn he also becomes a carrier of this disease. If the infected person’s immunity is strong, then he may not get affected by the infection, but he still participates in spreading the disease.

So, what do you do to protect yourself from scarlet fever? To prevent the disease from spreading, the infected person needs to be isolated from other family members, especially children as they are at greater risk in catching the infection.
