Does bulimia and cancer in the stomach have a correlation? Bulimia is a condition which is like anorexia where the patient stops eating and becomes very weak and severely under weight.

However, a person suffering from bulimia will first go on an eating binge and then vomit it all out using any means possible.

Stomach cancer is also known as gastric cancer and is caused due to the changes in the internal lining of the stomach. There are several causes for stomach cancer including smoking, alcohol, improper diet and starvation. Bulimia also has several causes including social causes and also depression. A person suffering from bulimia does not eat and starves most of the time. This leads to malnutrition eventually causing the person to become extremely weak and under nourished.

Bulimia does not cause stomach cancer directly. However, person with bulimia because of their starvation lead themselves to several problems which might cause more severe problems like stomach cancer for them. The stomach has a fixed way of functioning and secreted digestive acids at specific times during the day. These acids are secreted to digest the food consumed by a person. By starving the acids secreted by the inner lining of the stomach are not used. Over a period of time this might cause more severe problems in the stomach of the person suffering from bulimia.

The symptoms of stomach cancer can be loss of appetite, weight loss and indigestion which also coincide with the symptoms of bulimia. The same set of symptoms can cause varied problems, where one leads to another.
