Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder that affects the person’s mental capability in several ways. It is a severe mental disorder and soon can have damaging effects on the person. It is a disorder that affects the imagination levels in several different ways.

One of the common symptoms of schizophrenia is hallucination. They claim to see, hear or smell things that are not experienced by a normal person. They often claim that they can hear voices. Also, use to their imagination. Schizophrenic people often talk to themselves or at least appear to be doing so. However, if confronted they will mention an imaginary character's name. Such a person may not exist in real life, but they still relate to that person and think that the character exists in real life.

In literal sense, the word schizophrenia means split mind, and the person with this illness will exhibit a split personality. Some of the other symptoms include delusional behavior, introvert or reserved behavior, depression, insomnia and disorganized. They can be disorganized to the extent where they find it difficult to do simple things like brush their teeth for example.

A schizophrenic also will not accept the fact that they are being delusional or have hallucinations. It is very difficult to convince them otherwise. In some types of schizophrenia, the patients have split personalities. It can get overwhelming for a doctor to decode them. One personality of theirs can be extremely normal and the other is schizophrenic. They can also switch between personalities and control them. These types of patients are extremely difficult to diagnose.
