Who Invented The Jump Rope ?

Most of us are familiar with jump rope and also with the fact that this is one of the latest ways of working out the body. But we may still wonder as to how did this game come into existence, and who actually invented it.

The answer to this has not yet been found, though there are people who believe that it may be the Chinese who have invented the jump rope. But there is no mention of the exact person who invented this game and sport.

We can see that jump rope may have been in existence since the medieval period. Experts believe that early jump rope was started around the medieval period by aborigines who used bamboo and vines for jump rope. Even the Egyptians have been found to have used vines for jump rope.

The jump rope is believed to have started its journey from Egypt to China, Europe and finally to the United States. Now virtually every country in the world is familiar with the ubiquitous jump rope. What is now perceived as primarily a girl’s game, in the ancient times was purely a man’s sport, and women were prohibited to jump rope.

Irrespective of who invented it or where it originated, today jump rope is a very common and popular game. It is used as a sport by children, and also as an exercise by the adults. Since this has proved to be a very fun and effective way to exercise, there are many people who have been including jump rope routines in their workouts, and, thus, making it more popular.
