Before you start working out, it is very important to relax your muscles and prepare them for the work out. Exercise is a process that strains the muscles, and that is why it is all the more important to relax them.
Warm up is a process that is meant to stretch and relax the muscles before the actual exercise starts. Every person, who exercises, should allow at least 10 minutes for warm up.
The usual warm up exercises before Pilates are the swinging arm exercise. In this exercise you need to relax the spine and the back by moving your arms like you were swimming in water. This should be a slow and controlled motion, and this should be repeated at least 20 times.
Pilates exercise # 1:
Keep your feet apart to the shoulder width. Reach out in the direction of the sky with your hands. Draw in your abs and inhale. While exhaling bend your knees at a right angle and see that your back is in the shape of an arch. In this process, the head and shoulders need to be relaxed. Throughout, the abs should be tight. Arms should be to the sides. Inhale and come back to the standing position slowly. You can repeat this exercise 10 times.
Pilates exercise # 2:Keep your feet shoulder width apart and stand tall. Stretch your arms out in the front and keep the palms facing skywards. Inhale deeply and as you stretch your arms, keep contracting your abs. Your back should be straight. Keep repeating this for at least 10 times.
