Hatha yoga not only exercises the mind, body and spirit but also purifies your body and soul. There are some yoga practices called shatkarmas, or the six fundamental processes, that help to purify the mind and body in Hatha yoga. There are six different asanas, or positions, in this kind of yoga.

They use something called the mudras and bandhas that generate and release energy in a specific pattern. Pranayama, which is an integral part of these six poses, is nothing but a breathing technique used in combination with the postures.

Yoga exercises allow you to penetrate deep into the mind and concentrate on specific breathing pattern. When you perform yoga exercises, your mind actually becomes blank and is only absorbing positive energy. The cleansing process begins in the mind and it purifies the entire body using the positive energy. Many people view Hatha yoga as a cleansing activity, and they feel rejuvenated accordingly after performing the six exercises in routine. However, one should understand that yoga uses the basic principles of the body functioning, and most exercises resemble the body itself. Every person is made up of an internal body which is in constant contact with an external body. They also come in contact with the impurities present in the external atmosphere, and it is very important to constantly cleanse the body. That is where the shatkarmas of Hatha yoga come into picture and help the purification of the body. However, one needs to learn these postures from a yoga teacher or an expert.
