While many people might think that taking vitamin C or citrus bioflavonoid is one and the same thing, it is not.

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is water soluble and an essential element necessary for a plethora of metabolic processes. The human body metabolizes both Vitamin C and bioflavonoids in the same fashion. Of late there is evidence to suggest that some benefits hitherto ascribed to vitamin c actually are because of the action of bioflavonoids. In fact they often work together so there is reason to believe they complement each other in strengthening the immune system.
Bioflavonoids are said to maintain the capillaries that convey blood, are instrumental in preventing many heart diseases, stop or check the growth of several malignant cells and protect against cancer producing substances. Bioflavonoids are also referred to as the body’s natural antibiotic.
