Food plays a major role in our life in controlling LDL levels that leads to heart diseases. Some of the foods that help lower LDL cholesterol levels are discussed below and you should try to include these food items in your daily diet.
A soluble fiber found in oatmeal and kidney beans and also in some fruits like apples and pears reduce the LDL cholesterol. It is said eating a hand full of nuts like almond, hazelnuts, peanuts, pistachio, and walnuts helps a lot in preventing heart diseases. They keep the blood vessels healthy and elastic with the help of polyunsaturated fatty acids. So, it is advised to replace cheese and meat with these nuts.
Since Omega 3 reduces the blood pressure, doctors recommend at least two servings of fish a week that can be otherwise opted out if you prefer eating ground flaxseed. Olive oil for sure reduces LDL without harming HDL as it has potent antioxidant mix. Olive oil can be used to sauté vegetables and can also be used for dressing salads. This is a good substitute to use in place of regular cooking oil.

People, who are found to have low levels of LDL, are advised by the American Heart Association to consume fortified foods.
