A missed period is the most common indicator for a woman to know that she is pregnant. However, there some earlier signs also that help detect pregnancy. But these signs on their own do not confirm a pregnancy; a test needs to be done once the period is missed to confirm it.
Though not many may notice it, breast changes or sensitive and sore breasts are one of the earliest signs of pregnancy. It is also common for some women to have some spotting which can occur anywhere from 3 to 12 days after ovulation. One other symptom which reveals the pregnancy is morning sickness or fatigue. Some women may have the feeling of nausea at anytime of the day. These symptoms may be caused by the pregnancy hormones even before one knows that one is pregnant. One may even feel the need for frequent urination, immediately after one becomes pregnant. Sometimes there might also be some kind of food aversions or some kind of cravings that can start immediately after becoming pregnant, though these may also go unnoticed.Since the missed period is the confirmation of one becoming pregnant, these little symptoms go unnoticed most of the times. But it is important to remember that one might have these symptoms but not be pregnant. However, if any one or more of the above symptoms are present along with a missed period, then one should just get a home pregnancy test kit and get oneself tested. The results of these kits are generally accurate and if the result is positive, then one should visit the doctor at the earliest.
