Generation gap is the age gap between people belonging to two set of generations. For example, a grandparent and a grandchild can experience the generation gap because of the age gap. It is called the generation gap because of the difference in thought process, fashion and even behavior.
It is a very complex process for the older generation to understand the newer generation because the livelihood circumstances for the people growing through different times keeps changing and this causes them to think differently too.
Parents find it easier to cope with the children because they are used to the changing demands an often spend time coping rather than comparing. However, when it comes to the grandparents, who are one whole generation apart, they find it difficult to cope because they are not in the system and they observe from the outside and also tend to compare. Without adjustment one generation cannot adjust to the other easily.
Children right from birth tend to behave differently generation after generation. The newer generations such as generation Y and Z are more intelligent but lesser understanding. So each generation comes with its won set of problems and disadvantages. Today’s children are growing up with much more comforts according to us because we are providing them. However, today’s children in their own view point are dealing with much more challenging circumstances than the older generation had to deal with and that is true. There are huge differences in each generation when it comes to thinking patterns and even the economy plays a larger than life role in shaping them.
