Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure which is performed to improve the appearance of the nose. It is commonly known as nose reshaping or nose job. This is performed mainly for aesthetics. However, in some cases it becomes necessary due to birth defect which needs correction.
Rhinoplasty originated in India in 500 BC and the procedure is credited to Sushruta, a well known physician of his era. The technique developed by him has lasted all these centuries and is being followed today without any changes.
There are several factors that are to be considered while determining the cost of Rhinoplasty. The skill of the surgeon, geographical area where the surgery is going to be performed and the type of structural and aesthetic changes that are required to be made to the nose all have a bearing on the cost. The cost cannot be accurately estimated until and unless a surgical plan is worked out by the surgeon after examining the patient.
The major part of the cost is contributed by the surgeon’s fee. This varies depending on the skill, training and experience. It is safer to choose a board certified plastic surgeon from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. A surgeon who has extensive and specific Rhinoplasty experience needs to be chosen. Such surgeons command higher fees but they are known to employ appropriate techniques needed for specific cases and the risk of complications will also be lower.
The average cost of Rhinoplasty treatment is as given below:
Surgeon’s fee - $4000
Anesthesiologist - $700
Facility fee - $800
Average total cost - $5,500
