How Divorce Has Negative Impact On Children?

A marital relationship provides bliss to the couple, and is seen as an everlasting relationship that binds two individuals together in love. However, unfortunately some couples do not end up in this bliss. They may have arguments, disagreements or sometimes one partner finds love elsewhere. It is then that they decide to legally separate from each other by way of a divorce.

When it is the question of only two individuals, it is still better. This is despite the fact that it leaves a bitter taste. But when the couple has a child or children, it leads to problems. Children are so attached to their parents and hate the fact that their parents are going to separate, part and go their own ways. They land up being very scared about the whole process of a divorce. This becomes even more traumatizing when the child is dragged to the court and only one parent is given custody of the child. Most children feel that they have lost a parent, probably more so because of the fact that they get to see one parent only for a limited fixed time. Some children even feel that they are the cause of the divorce and consider themselves the wrong-doers.

Feelings of anxiety and loneliness may encompass the child. At this time, it is very important to take care of the child and see that it heals fast. Otherwise, they can start wayward ways. In some cases, it is during these times that children may resort to bad habits like taking drugs, being addicted to smoking, drinking and so on.
