A rebound relationship is one which is formed very soon after a divorce or failure of a previous relationship. In such circumstances, one may feel lonely and dejected that the previous relationship turned out to be a failure and hence, may resort to a rebound relationship.
In such times the person concerned looks for emotional support in someone, and when they find this person, they end up in a relationship with that person. Also, in such a case, the previous relationship is probably one that had lasted for a long time.
Generally, rebound relationships serve as a distraction from the pain and the previous person. Most of the times, it is a delusion that this new person is the right one for you. Nevertheless, there are rebound relationships that succeed despite all these drawbacks. There are certain things that one can do to ensure that your rebound relationship becomes a healthy one.
First of all, you should be able to look at your new partner for the person he or she is. Do not constantly keep judging this person against your ex-partner, and compare as to how good or bad either of them is. Learning from your mistakes also helps. If you know that you made certain mistakes in the relationship before the rebound one, then make sure that you do not repeat your mistakes. Apart from this, always have a positive attitude. Look to a bright future filled with hope. Also, do not make the new person in your life feel uncomfortable. Assure them that you do not have any feelings for your previous partner.
