France is an interesting tourist country to visit. There are lot of historic sites to visit and lot of information to know from times unknown to man. Here are some interesting facts about the country and its people.

Tour De France is a bicycle marathon that is held every summer. Nearly 100 top cyclists from all over the world participate in this race. It takes place over a period of three weeks.

Paris is the most romantic city and some of the top tourist’s destinations are the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre Dame and Sistine Chapel. Paris is also one of the most visited cities in the world.

The Eiffel Tower is literally the landmark of Paris. The magnificent structure was built in 1889 and was meant to be an exhibit. It was built for temporary purpose but remained there for some reason. It is as tall as a 70-story building.

France is best known for its cuisine. It is the world's best and French chefs are known for their specialty items. Some of the most popular dishes are quiche, croissants, breads, soufflé’s and mousse.

The cathedral of Notre Dame was built in 11th century. It is a classic gothic style construction, and it took 100 years for the construction to be completed.

The film festival of Cannes is the world’s most popular festival, and attracts the biggest movie stars from across the world. Thousands of movies are entered into the contest and only a select 20 get filmed at the festival.
