Rotterdam is the second biggest city of Netherlands. It gets its name from the dam Rotte, which is built on a little river. It is the largest port of Europe and is the seventh in the world. Rotterdam is most famous for its architecture. There are several top firms in Europe which have their headquarters here.

There are many great buildings here, apart from the theaters and museums. Since this is a vast city, it may be necessary to walk up to see some of these famous places and may be time consuming.

The weather of Rotterdam is pretty unpredictable. The summers are generally mild, but suddenly you may find it very hot, and winters are freezing cold. Rotterdam has uniform rainfall throughout the year. The best time to go to Rotterdam is the spring season, and the months of April and October. There are short spells of rain in spring, and in October the weather is very pleasant.

Most of the people of Rotterdam are very friendly, and the local language used here is Dutch. Though there are so many tourist attractions here and this city gets so many tourists, it is not very expensive, and you can even visit the market that is near the Blaak metro and find some cheap but delicious food. You can also easily find low cost hotels, which have adequate facilities to make your stay comfortable.

Rotterdam is very different from what Amsterdam is. It has a completely different ambiance. In fact, it is believed that if a visitor wants to figure out all about the Netherlands, the a trip to Rotterdam and Amsterdam is a must.
